Getting the miles in

Last week Dave, Tig and I moved our meat-free life (we've given it up for lent and feeling so much better for it!) to West Linton, to look after Willow - my mum and dad's recent addition, a gorgeous black lab/lurcher - whilst they were away.

Willow and Tig are both dogs that require a lot of exercise. Thankfully they both also sleep well after long walks! We enjoyed a change of scene, and the peace and quiet before our seasonal jobs start again. We read, wrote, rested, and walked. A lot.

Each day we did a different local walk, and generally racked up 5 or 6 miles a day. Last Tuesday brought a lot of snow, and the dogs had a whale of a time running around in it (6 inches in places!). By Wednesday the snow was melting, and we endured an 8/9 mile trudge to Garvald and back.

We also climbed the local hill, Mendick, and nearly got blown away at the top. We walked many miles, and had a lot of fresh air. I got back into the swing of early starts, being on Willow's timetable of early mornings rather than my own.

This was a week that was good for the soul, good for the mind and good for the body.

It stood me in very good stead for Saturday 25th March...the day I bagged 4 Munros!! Blog post to come very soon...
