Changing the scenery

It's amazing how beneficial it is to venture out your "bubble" and get a change of scenery. Sometimes for me this can be as simple as taking the dog for a walk somewhere new, or just somewhere I haven't been for a long time. Sometimes I need to go a wee bit further to reap the rewards.

Two weeks ago, a 'wee bit further' was Catalonia. Our friends Gibson and Paula have been staying there over the winter with their baby, and we planned an end-of-February trip to visit them.

It was the perfect time to go - not only did we escape Scotland in time to miss Storm Doris and Storm Ewan, we enjoyed sunny weather without it being too hot (I can't cope with heat, so Catalonia in February is just about perfect!).

It was just so lovely to get a change of scenery. Especially when that scenery involved sandy beaches, shimmering blue waters, and green hillsides. There was also good food, sangria at lunchtime, and the company of good friends (oh, and Scotland beating Wales which we managed to see!)

Having been a bit down prior to the trip (over-thinking and overwhelmed), a break was much needed, and I felt a million times better for it. The vitamin D was also very welcome! Swimming in the Med was my perfect escape.

When we arrived back in Scotland on 28th February, there were pancakes to be had, and just a few hours later it was March! I'm always delighted to see the back of January and February. Spring is one of my favourite times of the year, and it's surely not long until the daffodils and lambs appear.

We eased ourselves into March with a trip to Yellowcraigs beach, one of our favourite beaches in East Lothian. There was no swimming in the sea to be had, might need to wait for warmer months!

There's a busy few months ahead but thank goodness for longer days and lighter nights.
